LoginThe Value of a Personal Statement
I have noticed a lot of mistakes that veterans have made when it comes to providing a personal statement for their VA claim. You file your claim and this is when you provide a personal statement because this is your opportunity to speak about your symptoms and the effects your disability has on your social and work life.
After you file your claim you will go to a C&P exam and the doctor you see will not be your treating physician and he is there to evaluate your disabilities. He is supposed to follow certain protocols and ask you certain questions but sometimes they don’t do a very thorough job. If you did not write a detailed personal statement and the C&P examiner forgets to ask you something then you didn’t get your statement “on the record”.
