If you want to win your VA sleep apnea claim, the first thing that you should do is to see a Sleep Specialist. Sleep apnea is diagnosed by Sleep Study/Polysomnography. Obstructive sleep apnea is common among veterans as it often happens when an individual has increased obesity due to the use of medications to treat mental health disorders. This is known as a VA sleep apnea secondary. Sleep apnea can also occur when a veteran has suffered injuries to the neck and back, such as whiplash.

Veterans with Sleep Apnea will be subject to their Sleep Study results; if Veterans claim they have Sleep Apnea and do not see a Sleep Specialist and get tested for Sleep Apnea, it is unlikely they will win a sleep apnea VA disability rating.
