Why Was The Veterans Bill Blocked? (And What You Can Do About It)
So why was the veterans bill blocked? It’s a midterm election year and this was political gamesmanship! The veterans bill would have helped veterans access to health care, education, and housing. The Pact Act 2022 bill was blocked by Republicans and it is expected to get another vote next week.
Honoring our PACT Act of 2022 is a bill for disabled veterans that is mainly aimed at toxic burn pits but it also addresses a few other things that the Department of Veterans Affairs that has been denying for years!
Post-9/11 veterans who breathed in toxic fumes from trash fires known as burn pits during U.S. military operations in Iraq, Afghanistan, and elsewhere in the region will benefit from an expansion of benefits.
23 diseases are presumed to be caused by military service, according to the bill. As a result, veterans with these ailments will no longer have to prove that their illness was caused by active duty service.
In addition to helping post-9/11 veterans exposed to radiation during nuclear waste cleanup in the 1960s and Vietnam-era veterans exposed to Agent Orange, several provisions in the bill will also help prior generations.
