Can 100% Disabled Veterans Work?
Yes, 100 disabled veterans can work. In fact, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) prioritizes helping veterans find meaningful work. The VA provides many resources and programs to help disabled veterans find and keep employment. Some of these programs include vocational rehabilitation, education and training benefits, and job placement services. The VA also works with many employers across the country to help them understand the value that disabled veterans can bring to their organizations.
Can 100 Disabled Veterans Work? Is That Legal?
Sorry. Did you think the government terms would make sense? A 100% disability rating means that you have significant employment handicaps. Your disabilities (mental or physical) severely impact your earning potential. As a result, you are correctly paid a monthly income to compensate.
However, that does not mean that you are prevented from working. It only means you will have severe difficulties or need reasonable accommodations. For example, I normally work at my computer standing up. It is much better for my service-connected injuries.
Can 100 Disabled Veteran Work If P&T?
Can 100 disabled veterans work if P&T? Yes. In fact, this does includes 100% permanent and total. Again, did you think the government would be logical? The 100% P%T does not mean that you are unable to function or work. Instead, it means that your disabilities are not expected to improve, and that you are rated at 100% or TDIU.
Can 10o Disabled Veterans Work If Rated For PTSD?
We frequently see veterans with PTSD researching if they are allowed to work with a PTSD rating. Can 100 Disabled veterans work if rated for PTSD? Yes, you are permitted to work with a PTSD rating. It is not easy, but it is possible. However, each veteran’s situation is unique.
In fact, many medical professionals will encourage you to attempt to work. However, be sure to inform your medical team if you are having issues at work. Your PTSD rating is partially based on your issues at work, and it is important to document them.
Can 100 Disabled Veterans Work If TDIU P&T – The Exception
Of course, the VA does have an exception to the working rule. Can 100 disabled veterans work if TDIU? Not really. TDIU is the exception. Total Disability Individual Unemployability (TDIU) is a form of 100% disability through the VA. Veterans who can’t maintain employment because of their service-connected injuries may be eligible for TDIU. The VA pays TDIU claims at the same level as those given to veterans with a 100 percent disability. However, the veteran does not have to be rated at 100%.
Veterans receiving TDIU can only earn up to $13,590 annually. Making more than the limit can result in the VA rescinding your TDIU. As a result, I would hesitate to work if I was receiving TDIU. Especially if that TDIU is P&T.

Sheltered Work Environment
Can 100 disabled veterans work in a sheltered work environment if TDIU? The sheltered work environment is the exception to the exception. A veteran receiving TDIU is eligible to work and earn more than $13,950 in some very limited ways. The VA allows for this only when the workplace caters significantly to the veteran.
Typically, this is a situation where the veteran works for a close friend of family member. For example, the veteran does not have set hours or any mandatory meetings. In addition, the veteran is allowed to miss work or leave early when needed. This can be an excellent arrangement for the right veteran. However, the law does not have specifics on what constitutes a sheltered working environment.
As a result, you may find that the VA denies your workplace as a sheltered work environment. I would proceed with caution, and I would document everything. Did you leave work early because of your PTSD? Document it. Did you miss an important meeting because of a service-connected knee? Document it. Were you sent home early because your PTSD kept you from focusing? Document it.
