VA 5 10 20 rule: What you need to know about PROTECTED VA Disability Ratings!
Let’s talk about the VA 5 10 20 year rules in addition to the 55 year old policy and P&T ratings.
55 year rule – They are not supposed to re-exam because your old.
5 Year rule – The need to give you two exams in order to reduce you
10 year rule – that can’t take your rating but they can knock it down to zero
20 year rule – They can’t knock it down or take it away. That’s when it’s protected.
P&T status does not mean protected. Of course it’s better to have than a normal 100% rating but it’s not protected.
