LoginVA Back Pay: Does the VA pay interest on VA retroactive pay?
VA disability back pay is available for disabled veterans that win their VA claims but how far back does VA retroactive pay go and more importantly, does the VA pay interest on retroactive VA pay?
The VA calculates what veterans are owed for back pay in two ways. The first is called Basic Entitlement, where you will receive 12 months of retroactive payments from the date of your disability claim or from the effective date requested.
The second is called Effective Date Prior to Filing (EDPF), which takes into consideration the time from when your disability began and when you filed your claim. This amount of VA back pay may be higher because you can go back further in time.
