Video: I had a C&P exam, but I’m being sent to another one. What’s going on here?

The C&P exam (Compensation and Pension exam) is a series of tests that your doctors will give you. They run through the possible medical issues that may have led to your current condition. The system is rigged against you and your C&P examiner will use these test results to determine if any conditions are connected to your military service. The C&P exam is used to decide if you are eligible for VA benefits.

If your C&P exam shows that you have a potential service connection for any condition, it will be reevaluated at the C&P reexamination. C&P examiners and VA doctors will review your medical records and testing results to determine if the conditions remain related to military service. They may also decide that you need more tests or appointments with specialists to decide if your conditions are related to military service. This means that if your C&P examiner thinks that another C&P exam is necessary, they’ll schedule one as soon as possible. It’s important not to confuse this type of C&P exam with an Independent Medical Examination (IME), which is used by the VA when there is a question about whether a veteran is disabled due to military service. C&P exams are used for C&P purposes only, while IMEs are used for disability compensation purposes. C&Ps are done by doctors who work directly for the VA, while IME doctors work independently and can’t make C&P decisions on their own.
